In an incredible off-season of departure, Cincinnati lost a sixth player to the transfer portal on Wednesday when freshman forward Gabe Madsen decided to leave the school. The news was first reported by The Athletic's Justin Williams.
While Madsen was a little-used freshman who played just two games this season, it underlies a frustrating few days for coach John Brannen, who saw five other players enter on Tuesday. Those players were: freshman guard Mikey Sanders, freshman forward Tari Eason, freshman guard Gabe Madsen, sophomore guard Zach Harvey and redshirt junior forward Mamoudou Diarra, who will leave as a grad transfer.
The biggest blow is probably the 6'8 Eason, who earned All-AAC freshman honors this season while averaging 7.3 points and 6.9 boards per game. Harvey was also a former Top 75 recruit, who averaged 6.4 points per game this season. He opted out of the season in February.
