Kentucky took a surprising loss to the transfer portal, when guard CJ Fredrick - a one-time Kentucky high school player of the year - elected to leave the school for his final year of eligibility.
It was an up-and-down two seasons in Lexington for Fredrick, where he missed all of 2021-2022 to injury, and then was limited in 2022-2023, averaging just 6.3 points per game. Following the Wildcats NCAA Tournament loss to Kansas State he openly said that he'd considered giving up basketball for good.
But with a year of eligibility left Fredrick will now look at another school, hoping to regain the form of his first two years of college basketball, where he combined to shoot 46.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
