Donald Carey is an established high-major guard and one of the best shooters in the portal, after averaging 13.5 points on 39 percent shooting from three last season at Georgetown. And this week, he made his transfer decision - Carey announced he will play next season at Maryland.
This is a major addition for new Maryland head coach Kevin Willard, as Carey is a guy who has proven he can make plays and get buckets at the highest levels of college hoops. He joins fellow transfer Jahmir Young (who is currently testing the NBA Draft waters) on a new look roster, that should be able to put the ball in the basket from all three levels on the floor. They should also pair nicely with some of the returning players from last year as well, including forward Donta Scott, Julian Reese, and more
Because Carey has transferred multiple times, he will have to receive a waiver to be eligible immediately.
